On Tuesday morning, a Delta Airbus A350 and an Endeavor Bombardier CRJ900 jet, both owned by Delta Air Lines, collided on the tarmac at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The Federal Aviation Administration commented that, “while Delta Air Lines Flight 295 was taxiing for departure, its wingtip struck the tail of Endeavor Air Flight 5526.”
The incident happened around 10:10 a.m. at the intersection of two taxiways. The FAA is investigating it together with Delta Air Lines and the National Transportation Safety Board.
Images and videos posted on social media show the tail of Endeavor Air Flight 5526, which was transporting 56 passengers, according to Delta, and was headed to Lafayette, Louisiana, completely separated from the rest of the aircraft.
Delta Airbus A350, instead, was headed to Tokyo and according to a statement by Delta, there were 221 passengers on board. “There have been no reported injuries at this time and customers are being transported back to the terminal where they will be reaccommodated on alternate flights.”
