In Land O’Lakes, on Friday, two adults and a child–only six years old–were wounded after someone invaded their home and opened fire.
“How evil must you be that you’re shooting innocent people in their bed while they’re sleeping and to shoot a 6-year-old?” Said Sheriff Chris Nocco. “That 6-year-old had nothing to do with anything. That 6-year-old was probably going to wake up, go to school, you know, do a normal kid’s routine, be excited for the weekend, but now, she’s fighting for life because people who are just evil don’t care about life.”
Deputies were called to the area around 5:00 AM in the morning to respond. Nocco stated that the attack led to a 60-year-old man, 38-year-old woman and her 6-year-old daughter being shot in the head.
“They’re in critical condition right now,” Nocco said. “The family is going through a lot.”
According to Nocco, the shooting commenced when the 60-year-old man arrived at his home at around 4:40 AM. He found four people outside of his home; they got into an altercation that ended with him being shot in the head. He survived.
The sheriff’s office said what happened next was that four people went into the home to search for the main resident of the house; they entered the master bedroom and found his girlfriend and their daughter before shooting them both in the head. Nocco said they were screaming and searching for the home’s main resident, who was the father of the child.
No arrests have been made at this time. Preliminary information indicated that the home invasion could be related to an altercation at an “adult establishment in Tampa” as well as a road rage incident the previous week that the child’s father was involved in.
