That’s amore!
Once again, Italy topped the list of the 100 finest cuisines in the world according to TasteAtlas, an online food guide and portal that has been authoring the list for a number of years by integrating restaurant ratings with its reviews.
Italy and Japan tied for the highest average score, but the Mediterranean nation won because its signature dish – pizza – was given a better grade. Italian food received the highest rating of any country in the world, 4.65, based on the average ratings of the top-rated meals and food items in each nation.
Greek food came in third place with a 4.64 rating, whereas Portugal (4.61), China (4.59), and Indonesia (4.57) follow next. Mexico and France rank seventh and eighth, respectively, with a score of 4.56 and 4.55, despite being frequently regarded as having some of the greatest cuisines in the world. Spain sits in ninth position, tied with France for the same score, while Peru rounds out the top 10 with a 4.54.
Pizza came in fourth place of the world’s best-rated foods with a score of 4.7, whereas the no. 1 spot this year was claimed by Thai Phat kaphrao (4.73), followed by Malaysian Roti Canai (4.74), and Brazilian Picanha (4.75).
The Antica Pizzeria da Michele in Naples was honored as the globe’s second most iconic food place, just behind the Figlmuller restaurant in Vienna (famous for its Schnitzel)
But the good news for Italians doesn’t end here. Out of 1,378 cheeses and 36,551 registered votes, Parmigiano Reggiano was declared the greatest cheese in the world. Mozzarella di Bufala Campana and Stracchino di Crescenza came next, while Burrata comes sixth.
Unsurprisingly, the cities with the best food were named as Italy’s own Rome, Bologna, and Naples.
