From the pirate boat to the secret treasure chest and explorations among the excavations at Aquileia, from sup and bike rides to discovering the beauty of nature, and many more fun opportunities throughout the summer. On the PromoTurismoFVG website, in the section dedicated to the family area, the wide range of options including amusement parks, boat trips, visits to museums or historical sites, the novelty of educational farms and other recreational opportunities can be found. And this is the main highlight of the circuit which, over the years, has gathered more and more members and now boasts a network of 34 facilities from the seaside to the mountains offering services geared to those traveling with children between Lignano Sabbiadoro, Grado, Sistiana, Marina Julia, Piancavallo, Tarvisio, Paluzza, Sappada, Maniago, and Forni di Sopra.
SEA: A PASSION FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES
The magic of the sea has always enchanted small children, who are drawn to explore the seabed to discover its inhabitants and biodiversity. In Friuli Venezia Giulia, it is possible to go sea watching and snorkelling in one of the region’s most evocative places, at Miramare Castle ( among the beauty of its protected area. Fun is also guaranteed aboard the pirate ship: on Tuesdays, this motorboat disguises itself as a pirate ship and sets sail from Lignano Sabbiadoro to conquer lost treasure led by many little pirates (Pirate Ship). Along the 130 kilometres of the Friuli Venezia Giulia coast, between Lignano Sabbiadoro and Grado – where there is no shortage of beach entertainment, mini-clubs, workshops – and the Gulf of Trieste, there are activities for everyone: those who want to indulge in a family sport can also take advantage of the XXL family Lignano sup, which from the beach allows you to explore the sea aboard a board and again, also in Lignano Sabbiadoro, you can get up close and personal with giraffes in a close encounter at the Punta Verde Zoo Park, which is home to many varieties of animals.

IN THE MOUNTAINS WITH CHILDREN, EXPERIENCES THAT CAN’T BE MISSED
Visitors can be immersed in the woods of Tarvisio by bicycle, discovering the secrets of the millenary forest or having fun with Dog trekking Fusine, but also enjoy the most fascinating corners of the Friulian Dolomites, exploring the ravine carved through the rocks through millions of years by the crystal-clear Cellina stream aboard the Trenino della Valcellina train that crosses the valley and the Nature Reserve within the Friulian Dolomites Park or even crossing the Tibetan Bridge, on the route of the old Valcellina road framed by the region’s largest and most spectacular canyon.
Adventure-seekers can head to Sappada, where they can try their hand at real climbing at Adventure Park Sappada, an amusement park in upside-down trees that this year offers an animal farm, bike park, and fun & relax area, plus there will be no shortage of horseback riding activities for beginners and an introduction to artificial wall climbing.
NATURE FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY
Nature lovers? Movement and relaxation are matched in the untouched landscapes of Friuli Venezia Giulia, a perfect destination for those who wish to explore the area with their little ones as well. Many experiences to discover the territory, from the “Fattoria Didattica Il Rifugio dei Folletti” educational farm which in Tarvisio offers the opportunity to get closer to the inhabitants of the woods, as well as grazing with sheep and the shepherd in the Karst, and learn about the history and work of small local producers. In Bordano, the protagonists are the butterflies as the Summer of 2022 offers many events at the House of Butterflies, at Cona Island you can approach the world of horseback riding with Camargue horses and ponies, while adventurers can have fun among the Claut Tree Village and Dolomiti Friulane Park treehouses and with the Acrobats of the Sun in Cividale watch the show of birds of prey taking flight with master falconers.
