Disgraced comedian Roseanne Barr loves Donald Trump. This is nothing new, she has been one of his diehard fans for years. But now she loves him even more and she tells us why.
While speaking to Donald Trump Jr., on his podcast, the actress, who is known for her controversial views, gushed over Donald ahead of the 2024 election.
“What I love about your dad is he is one funny guy! He is so hilarious, and I think that is part of why they hate him. They hate humor. They don’t have any sense of humor about themselves — right there that is what a fascist is. Someone in power who has no ability to laugh at themselves, has no self-reflection; they look in the mirror and there is nothing there. If you can’t laugh at yourself, you don’t have a soul. Your dad laughs at himself and everyone else and he makes everyone laugh. He has the heart of the comedian, which is why we all love him because he’s so funny!” she said during their chat. Donny Junior just lapped that up.
Fans had plenty to say in rebuttal to Barr’s admission. One person wrote, “Barr doesn’t get it. People are not laughing at #Trump’s jokes. They are just laughing at Trump,” while another added, “Lies aren’t funny. Especially coming from someone who should just shut up.”
A third person added, “Trump is still the laughingstock of the world, so there is that.”
Roseanne Barr may not understand that there is an important distinction between Trump as private citizen and Hollywood-struck gawper, and Donald Trump President of the United States who is supposed to comport himself in a way that is consistent with the seriousness of the role.
In 2018, Roseanne Barr’s comeback show on ABC was cancelled and her career essentially terminated when she posted a hideously racist remark about Valerie Jarrett, an African American senior adviser to President Obama. ABC’s entertainment president, Channing Dungey, said in a statement that, “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values.”
That same year she enthused about the time that Trump called her to congratulate her on the return of that show.
“It was pretty exciting, I’ll tell you that much,” Barr shared on Good Morning America. “They said, ‘Hold please for the president of the United States of America’ and [that] was about the most exciting thing ever. It was just very sweet of him to congratulate us.”
“I’ve known him for many years and he’s done a lot of nice things for me over the years,” she continued. “It was just a friendly conversation about working and television and ratings. He really understands ratings and how they measure things.”
The last part of Barr’s assessment of Trump’s talents is certainly true. She could add that he knows how to market and exploit the public sentiment—unfortunately, many would say that comes to the detriment of honesty and truth.
Barr herself seems to follow the Trump school of spewing untethered facts. In an interview with Kari Lake, a visibly spaced-out Barr made outrageous claims; first that Kamala Harris is not eligible for her office because “she has citizenship issues.” Then she added that Kamala Harris is not human, “they’re on the third clone with her.” In the past she has also denied the Holocaust and endorsed Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was stolen from him as well as many other conspiracy theories.
Kari Lake was enchanted with Barr’s wit and wisdom and concluded: “I know that if President Trump needs a female Vice President, I’m starting to think right now as I’m sitting here: Trump — Barr.”
