During an interview with Fox News last Sunday, President Donald Trump said he does not see Vance as his successor, showing not much enthusiasm for his second in command. During the interview, reporter and host Bret Baier asked the president: Do you see Vice President JD Vance as your successor?, as the next Republican nominee in 2028?”
But Trump replied, “I think we have a lot of other very capable people,” adding that, “So far, I think he’s doing a fantastic job. It’s too early, we’re still only at the beginning.” Among other things, it emerged during the interview that even though U.S. law does not provide for it, Trump has repeatedly floated the idea of running again for future U.S. elections. The president had already hinted as much several times, both during the campaign and since he officially took office in January. But it seems clear Trump does not care much about what is legal and what is not.
Meanwhile, Vance who is currently in Europe for the Paris conference on artificial intelligence (AI), seems to spend a lot of time posting on his X profile, in which he describes himself as a Christian, husband, father, and Vice President of the United States, pontificating on a number of topics including the nature of the checks and balances existing in the American democratic system.
