On Sunday, Jan. 18, 2025, a demonstration will be held in Washington, D.C. Dubbed the “People’s March,” it’s an effort to throw shade at the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, which is instead scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 20.
The protest sit-in will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, while the actual march will take off from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., starting at the Washington Monument.
Behind the organization of the protest are several activist groups, such as Planned Parenthood, the National Women’s Law Center, Abortion Access Now and the Women’s March.
The website issued the following statement, “In 2025, the U.S. will begin a new presidential term with the start of an openly authoritarian administration. We face a government of billionaires, con artists, and white supremacists who are enriching themselves while dividing and attacking our communities. They unite to divide. We must unite to rise.”
The organizers of the march have teamed up with Rally Bus to provide charter buses to D.C. for the event.
On the other side, however, Donald Trump is planning one last rally before his inauguration into the White House, which is scheduled to be held at Washington’s Capital One Arena on Jan. 19, one day after the protest against him.
The Associated Press has also reported that Trump’s team is sending emails to his supporters urging them to attend the rally in a big way.
Indeed, the releases read, “This is President Trump’s VICTORY RALLY the DAY before being sworn in as the 47th President – the crowd needs to be HUGE!”
