Los Angeles is experiencing an apocalypse. Nearly 17,000 acres are on fire. More than 2,000 homes have been destroyed. 180,000 people have been forced to leave their homes. The fires, ravaging Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, and Beverly Hills, have also brought the movie industry to its knees. Hollywood has postponed several events, including premieres, tapings of new episodes, galas, and movie award ceremonies. In this regard, actress Jean Smart, fresh off a Golden Globe as “Best Television Female Actor – Musical/Comedy Series” for her role on Hacks, has appealed to the TV networks.
On her Instagram profile, where she is followed by more than 161,000 people, she wrote: “With ALL due respect, during Hollywood’s season of celebration, I hope any of the networks televising the upcoming awards will seriously consider NOT televising them and donating the revenue they would have garnered to victims of the fires and firefighters.”
