Country singer-songwriter Garth Brooks returned to the stage after being accused in recent days of sexual assault and battery by a makeup artist.
The woman, currently remaining anonymous and referred to as “Jane Roe,” revealed that the incident occurred in May 2019 in a hotel room in Los Angeles. Initially hired by Brooks’ wife, Trisha Yearwood, since 2017 she had also been working for the country music star.
According to the complaint, the musician, who was on tour, booked only one hotel room for both himself and the woman, ignoring her requests for a separate room. During the stay, Jane Roe claimed she felt “trapped,” especially when the artist appeared in front of her completely naked before assaulting her.
The lawsuit also mentions other alleged inappropriate behavior by Brooks, including unwanted groping and explicit sexual comments. The former makeup artist said she felt compelled to tolerate the singer’s advances.
Attorney Douglas H. Wigdor, representing the plaintiff, emphasized his client’s courage in speaking out against the star and highlighted that sexual predators are not only found in Hollywood but also in the country music world. The complaint aims to shed light on these issues and encourage other potential victims to come forward.
Despite the allegations, Brooks shared a photo of the crowd at his recent concert at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, where he is performing as part of his Garth Brooks/Plus ONE residency, with several shows scheduled between 2024 and 2025.
The caption on the image posted on X (formerly Twitter) read: “If there was ever a night I really needed this, tonight was that night!!!!!. Thank you for my life, love, g.”
