Among the most vocal critics were those who accused the administration of complicity in the ongoing violence. “Biden, you can’t hide. We charge you with genocide,” the protesters chanted, echoing a sentiment that has gained traction among progressive activists.
The protests, however, were not without incident. A small group of demonstrators broke through a security fence near the convention site, leading to a brief confrontation with the police.

As Vice President Kamala Harris prepares to accept the Democratic nomination, the protests highlight the growing divisions within the party over its stance on Israel. Omar Younes, a co-founder of the Palestinian youth organization Jisoor, criticized the administration, saying, “The Democratic Party may present a new face, but its support for Israeli repression remains unchanged.” This sentiment was echoed by Taylor Cook, an organizer from the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, who urged Democrats to reconsider their support for Israel if they hope to maintain the backing of progressive voters.
