Andrea Bonafede, 59, a surveyor from Campobello di Mazara, has been arrested.
He is the man who allegedly lent his identity to boss Matteo Messina Denaro. He faces charges of mafia association. The order was signed by the Palermo Court gip at the request of Chief Prosecutor Maurizio de Lucia and Deputy Prosecutor Paolo Guido.
Bonafede allegedly procured the fake document for the former fugitive, along with the fake health card used for chemotherapy, and also bought the house used by the boss in his last period and the “Giulietta,” which turns out to be in the name of his 87-year-old mother.
