A 14-year-old has been taken into custody following the fatal stabbing of a teenage boy inside a McDonald’s in Queens, authorities confirmed.
Julian Corniell, the victim, succumbed to multiple stab wounds to the abdomen after being rushed to Weill Cornell Medical Center. The attack unfolded around 3:30 p.m. on Friday at the fast-food restaurant near 38th Street and Queens Boulevard in Sunnyside.
Police said the suspect, whose name has not been released due to his age, faces a charge of first-degree gang assault.
The violent altercation erupted among a large group of teenagers inside the McDonald’s, though it remains unclear whether Corniell and his alleged attacker knew each other. Investigators have not yet determined if either of them had gang affiliations, and the motive behind the deadly confrontation is still under review.
A knife was later spotted on the street near the crime scene, though authorities have not confirmed whether it was the weapon used in the stabbing.
The investigation remains ongoing.
