The NYPD is searching for four men who are accused of attacking a man and a woman in Brooklyn, reportedly targeting them with anti-Palestinian remarks.
Police reported that a 31-year-old man and 32-year-old woman were on the Flatbush Avenue Extension between Tech Place and Myrtle when they became involved in an argument with a group of strangers on Friday, Oct. 25, just before midnight. It’s still unclear what led to the dispute, but the interaction escalated quickly when the four suspects started making anti-Palestinian comments, saying things like “F— Palestine,” officials said.
According to law enforcement, the fight grew more intense after at least one of the suspects punched both victims in the face multiple times.
On Wednesday, the NYPD released surveillance footage and photos of the four men, in which they’re wearing clothes typically worn by men in the Orthodox Jewish community.
After the dispute, the suspects fled the location in an unknown direction before officers from the 84th Precinct arrived in response to a 911 call about the incident, police reported.
Officials said the woman sustained severe physical injury to one of her eyes, while the man suffered a laceration to his face as a result of the attack. EMS transported both victims to New York – Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
While no arrests have been made so far, NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is currently investigating the incident and searching for the suspects, police said.
