Surveillance footage of a planned attack at a McDonald’s in the Bronx over the weekend that left two boys, ages 12 and 13, shot and wounded, shows the masked gunman behind the shooting.
The shots were fired inside the McDonald’s at 2516 White Plains Road in the Allerton section just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, about an hour before the restaurant was scheduled to close. According to police, the younger boy was shot in his left leg and back, and the older boy was shot in the thigh.
The two boys were then rushed to Jacobi Medical Center and hospitalized in stable condition shortly after officers arrived to the scene. Authorities say they are expected to recover.
Police sources told CBS New York the boys were the intended targets of the shooting.
Now, detectives have recovered a video of the masked gunman opening fire inside of the McDonald’s and striking the two boys. The footage shows the suspect walking into the store and exchanging some words with them before firing at least six shots.
Based on the video, the boys appear to be the targets of the shooting but the motive behind the attack is still unclear, according to the NYPD.
The two boys have not been publicly named by officials.
Police reported the suspect ran away on Mace Avenue toward Bronx Park East, and was last seen wearing a black medical mask and a black hoodie with a pink logo on it.
