A Washington Heights man has been arrested on murder charges after fatally stabbing his neighbor inside an Upper Manhattan subway station, according to police and sources.
Authorities reported that Diego Figueroa-Hepner, 24, is suspected of repeatedly knifing guitarist Johnny Medina, 40, in the neck and body at the 175th Street station. According to the former’s relatives, Medina lived across the street from Figueroa-Hepner.
According to NYPD, the victim was attacked as he was about to board a northbound A train with his Yonkers-based girlfriend. Figueroa-Hepner was reportedly wearing a balaclava mask at the time of the attack, which left Medina seriously injured. He was later declared dead at Harlem Hospital.
Following his arrest on Saturday, Figueroa-Hepner was charged with both homicide and unlawful weapon possession.
The duo had previously gotten into a fight on social media, according to a police source, who could not confirm whether or not law enforcement was notified of the arguments.
