Authorities are conducting an investigation into a shooting at a subway station in the Bronx that resulted in one fatality and five injuries.
The incident occurred at the Mount Eden train station on Monday afternoon. At approximately 4:30 p.m., gunfire erupted on the platform as commuters waited for the southbound No. 4 train.
Among those shot, one individual succumbed to their injuries at St. Barnabas Hospital, according to the police. Fortunately, the injuries sustained by the other five victims are not deemed life-threatening.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities have yet to recover the firearm involved.
In response to the incident, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced operational adjustments. Northbound 4 trains are now operating on the express track from 149 St.-Grand Concourse to Burnside Ave, and 4 trains are bypassing Mount Eden Ave in both directions.
