A golf course in the Bronx, once the center of a tense legal battle, will no longer bear the Trump name.
Bally’s Corporation, a large casino and entertainment company, is buying Trump out of his lease of the 180-acre Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point, according to sources familiar with the deal, which is well into the tens of millions.
“We are supportive of the transfer of the Ferry Point Golf Course to Bally’s, and we are confident they will deliver a high-quality golfing experience to New Yorkers,” the New York City Parks Department said in a statement.
The contract submission was given to the city comptroller’s office from the Parks Department in late August and has been reviewed and registered since.
“I am delighted that Trump’s name will no longer deface city parkland,” New York City Comptroller Brad Lander said.
Trump is nine years into a 20-year lease on the course that the city, under then-Mayor Bill de Blasio, previously tried to nix after the riot at the US Capitol on January 6th, 2021. A judge sided with the Trump Organization in 2022, saying the lease could be kept.
Bally’s is expected to continue to operate Ferry Point as a golf venue, sources said, but they’re going to rename it.
