Things are heating up in the Senate…but not between Senators.
Aidan Maese-Czeropski is a legislative aide for Maryland Democratic Senator Ben Cardin. He began working for Cardin in 2021 as a staff assistant before he got a promotion to serve as a Foreign Policy Legislative Correspondent in 2022, and has been working as Cardin’s legislative aide for around two months. Recently, he’s been accused of filming himself while engaging in sexually explicit acts in a congressional hearing room and is now threatening legal action. The threat comes after he was referenced widely by name on social media.
He did not discuss the pornographic video directly in a LinkedIn post from Friday evening responding to what had happened. Instead, he focused his energies on denying a desperate allegation that he confronted Ohio Republican Representative Max Miller on Capitol Hill on Wednesday while he was speaking to reporters.
“This has been a difficult time for me, as I have been attacked for who I love to pursue a political agenda. While some of my actions in the past have shown poor judgment, I love my job and would never disrespect my workplace,” Maese-Czeropski wrote. “Any attempts to characterize my actions otherwise are fabricated and I will be exploring what legal options are available to me in these matters.”
Regarding what may or may not have happened with Miller, he said, “As for the accusations regarding Congressman Max Miller, I have never seen the congressman and had no opportunity or cause to yell or confront him.”
The explicit video from a Senate hearing that was released Friday, purportedly showed a pair of men engaging in sexual intercourse on the dais.
In reporting from the Daily Caller, the footage was filmed by a congressional staffer inside the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing room in the Hart Senate Office Building. The outlet did not identify the participants, but Maese-Czeropski’s name was brought up frequently on social media.
A spokesperson for Cardin refused to offer much comment on the incident.
