Jaguar unveiled its electric concept car Type 00, in two colors, Miami Pink and London Blue, a few hours after unauthorized photos of the widely anticipated model circulated online. A spokesman, however, said the company was “aware of the images circulating online prior to Jaguar’s official unveiling at Miami Art Week.” The brand describes Type 00 as “a concept with bold shapes and exuberant proportions that will inspire future Jaguars.”
According to the company, the Miami Pink “pays homage to the iconic architecture of this city and is inspired by the characteristic pink note that brass takes on with the passage of time,” while the Inception Silver Blue, also known as London Blue, “pays homage to British heritage tradition and is inspired by the silver opalescent blue of Jaguar E-Type from the 1960s.”
The Type 00 features a laser-engraved Jaguar logo on each side; rear-facing cameras give the driver a view similar to conventional rearview mirrors. There is no rear windscreen. The front windscreen merges with the side windows, which taper toward the rear of the car, or as the release states, “a wraparound effect reminiscent of a racing helmet.”
The British automaker had sparked controversy last month by unveiling a series of sweeping changes, including a new design and a new logo, spelled JaGUar, ahead of its transformation into an all-electric brand.
According to Jaguar, the new car uses a dedicated electric platform that is expected to provide autonomy up to 760 kilometers (470 miles), with fast charging (15 minutes) for another 320 kilometers (200 miles).
The production-ready (in the UK) version of Type 00 is expected to be unveiled in late 2025. Prices have not yet been confirmed, but it is expected to cost more than 100,000 pounds (i.e., 120,000 euros or $126,000).
Jaguar had suspended new car sales more than a year ago to focus on the rebrand, and will launch three new electric cars in 2026. Adrian Mardell, the chief executive of Jaguar Land Rover, says that the Type 00 represents “original British luxury brand unmatched in its heritage, artistry and emotional magnetism”.
