Nella notte di domenica 5 febbraio, sono state nominate le vincitrici della 66esima edizione dei Grammy Awards. Vincitrici, sì, perché in massima parte donne. A Los Angeles, alla Cripto.com Arena sono stati assegnati i premi agli artisti e al Peacock Theater sono continuate le celebrazioni con le migliori performance.
Taylor Swift ha vinto il premio “Best Pop Vocal Album”, il più prestigioso della serata con Midnights, contro Guts di Olivia Rodrigo, – di Ed Sheeran, Endless Summer Vacation di Miley Cyrus e Chemistry di Kelly Clarkson. Entra nella storia: prima artista nei 66 anni di storia dei Grammy a vincere quattro volte per il miglior album dell’anno. La pop star supera Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon e Frank Sinatra che si erano fermati a tre riconoscimenti. Swift aveva già vinto per Fearless, 1989 e Folklore.
Non solo, per la cantante è il tredicesimo Grammy, e come ha precisato durante il discorso per i ringraziamenti sul palco, è il suo numero fortunato. A sorpresa, ha lanciato anche un nuovo disco, intitolato The Tortured Poets Department, in uscita il 19 aprile – era successo anche per Midnights durante i Video Music Awards 2022. Sarà un altro anno di gloria come il 2023 pigliatutto.
Victoria Monét è stata premiata come “Best New Artist”. Sul red carpet, si è fatta accompagnare dalla figlia di due anni.
Miley Cyrus ha vinto “Record of the year” con Flowers, contro What Was I Made For? di Billie Eilish , Not Strong Enough delle Boygenius, Worship di Jon Batiste, Vampire di Olivia Rodrigo, Anti-Hero di Taylor Swift, Kill Bill di SZA e On My Mama di Victoria Monét.
Billie Eilish però con la ballad per pianoforte What Was I Made For scritta per la colonna sonora di Barbie ha vinto per la categoria “Song of the year”. Sul palco a fianco del fratello, il produttore e compositore Finneas, ha ringraziato la Recording Academy e ha dedicato il premio a tutta la squadra del film che ha sbancato i botteghini di mezzo mondo la scorsa estate. Soprattutto, ha nominato la regista Greta Gerwig e la protagonista Margot Robbie, che sono state escluse dalle candidature agli Oscar.
Boygenius, il progetto di tre giovani indie-rock – Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers e Lucy Dacus, tutte meno di trent’anni – ha fatto doppietta come “Best Alternative Music Album” e “Best Rock Performance”. Bridgers ha vinto anche “Best Pop Duo/Group” per il duetto Ghost In The Machine con SZA.
In chiave Oscar, il premio alla miglior colonna sonora per un film o una serie tv è andato a Lüdwig Göransson per Oppenheimer, battendo fra l’altro le soundtrack di Barbie, The Fablemans e Indiana Jone and the Dial of Destiny.
Da notare la performance di Annie Lennox di Nothing Compares 2 U in memoria di Sinead O’Connor scomparsa nel 2023, conclusa con un appello: “Artisti per il cessate il fuoco – pace nel mondo”.
