C’è anche Io Capitano di Matteo Garrone fra i candidati dell’81esima edizione dei Golden Globes. Il film concorre per la categoria “Miglior film non in inglese”, in competizione con Anatomia di una caduta (francese) di Justine Triet – vincitore della Palma d’oro a Cannes, Past Lives (coreano) di Celine Song, La società della neve (spagnolo) di Juan Antonio Bayona, La zona d’interesse (tedesco) di Jonathan Glazer e Foglie al vento (finlandese) di Aki Kaurismäki.
In programma il prossimo 7 gennaio al Beverly Hills Hotel a Los Angeles in diretta su CBS, i Golden Globes celebrano i migliori film, serie tv e programmi televisivi della stagione negli Stati Uniti. Sarà la prima edizione dopo che la Hollywood Foreign Press Association, che rappresentava la stampa straniera a Hollywood, è stata sciolta.
L’edizione di quest’anno prevede ventisette categorie, di cui due novità: “Miglior stand-up comedy”, di cui si voteranno gli spettacoli registrati e pubblicati sulle piattaforme streaming, e “Miglior blockbuster” per premiare il film campione di incassi. Quest’ultimo premio somiglia a quello pensato per gli Oscar del 2018, ma che non è mai stato ufficializzato perché le proposte erano state considerate troppo mainstream. Fra i candadati ci sono: Barbie e Oppenheimer che si sono contesi il weekend del 21-23 luglio e che sono anche i più nominati quest’anno, Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3, John Wick, Chapter 4, Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part 1, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, The Super Mario Bros. Movie e l’immancabile Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.
A presentare le candidature sono stati Cedric the Entertainer e Wilmer Valderrama. Invece, non si sa ancora con certezza chi condurrà la serata del 7 gennaio. Il comico Chris Rock, due volte premio Oscar e potenziale candidato ai Globes nella nuova categoria stand-up comedy, ha fatto sapere che ha rifiutato la proposta. Come lui, anche Ali Wong della serie Beef, Will Arnett, Sean Hayes e Jason Bateman del podcast SmartLess hanno declinato l’offerta.
