The annual 2023 Tripadvisor Best of the Best Awards have been announced, and Bucuti & Tara Resort Beach Resort in Aruba has once again secured the top recognition as the No. 1 Hotel in the Caribbean and the No. 18 Best Hotel in the World.
It is the only Caribbean hotel to be named among the Top 25 Hotels in the World.
Coincidentally, when these awards were announced I had just returned from a fantastic vacation at Bucuti & Tara and having experienced the level of detail that Ewald Biemans, the proprietor, dedicates to his guests’ experience, I can honestly say that I was blown away. No detail is too small or insignificant. One example: while you’re sitting on the beach or at the pool a server comes around offering you refreshing tidbits of tropical fruit.
For the past 16 years, Bucuti & Tara has consistently made it to the coveted Best of the Best list, with the last seven years being crowned as the No. 1 Hotel for Romance in the Caribbean. It is the only resort to have achieved this remarkable feat.
Tripadvisor’s rigorous analysis of 12 months’ worth of review data from 2022, covering over 1.5 million hotels, ensures that only the highest-rated accommodations receive the Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Hotel Awards. With less than 1% of Tripadvisor’s 8 million listings being awarded the Best of the Best distinction.
Tripadvisor has also acknowledged the resort’s efforts to create an eco-friendly environment by certifying it as the Caribbean’s first carbon-neutral hotel. Describing Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort as an eco-friendly haven, they highlighted the tranquil boutique experience and friendly service. The resort is adults only.
Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort’s sustainability initiatives go far beyond towel- and electricity-saving programs. In fact, the team has made significant investments in eco-technologies and systems, as well as environmentally safe products.
The Four Diamond resort produces about 45 percent of its energy and has reduced its trash by 65 percent and food portions or waste by 30 percent. “And people are happy … people have a guiltless vacation staying with us (and) it’s an attraction,” said Biemans.
“We are carbon neutral … and it brings us a lot of business because there are people that are very conscious about climate change,” said the hotelier, who noted that his team’s efforts have generated millions of dollars in publicity over the years.
Part of the resort’s great attraction is its location on the dazzlingly white sand of Eagle Beach, which has been named the No. 1 Beach in the Caribbean and the No. 2 Beach in the World by Tripadvisor. The tranquil stretch of sand, the calm waters, the ideal setting for intimate weddings, and the opportunity to witness nesting and hatching sea turtles have all contributed to the accolade. (Check out our Bucuti & Tara Sea Turtle Nesting Calendar 2023 for a glimpse into this awe-inspiring experience.)
The fact that Eagle Beach is located at the widest part of the northwestern Aruban shore means that there is plenty of room for all the lounge chairs, no crowding here as there is in the high-rise hotels on Palm Beach. Every lounger is placed so that you can enjoy the privacy of your own space.
Wellness is a top priority for travelers in 2023. Hotels set in relaxing Caribbean destinations, like the Bucuti & Tara, that offer authentic and highly personalized wellness programs, have emerged as favorites among travelers seeking rejuvenation and holistic experiences. Not only does the resort offer a full-service spa, but there are daily fitness activities on the beach like yoga and Pilates, as well as a fully-equipped gym.
With friendly service throughout, housekeeping twice a day, and a breakfast that can only be described as a full banquet–that incidentally, also includes a morning chat with Ewald Biemans, the visionary proprietor who takes a personal interest in his guests–the experience is truly unparalleled in Caribbean vacations.
