The Vie dei Tesori is a festival supported by the foundation by the same name, that focuses on the discovery of many sites in the Mediterranean that are little-known or closed to the public. And the foundation Vie dei Tesori, in collaboration with the University of Palermo, organized the forum at Palazzo Steri that is attended by operators from different Italian regions and seven Mediterranean countries: Albania, Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, the Palestinian Authority and Turkey.
The objective is to share a system based on Sicily’s experience of “best practices” for the promotion of cultural heritage in the Mediterranean. The forum started on Friday October 21 in Palermo and will wrap up on Saturday.
Laura Anelli of Vie dei Tesori explained, “We are opening to the Mediterranean to discuss about similar experiences. And in this way we try to define a system to promote cultural heritage interpreting specific territories”.
Representatives of grassroots organizations and NGOs are in Palermo for this first meeting to promote an initiative for the future, organizers said. Experts of digital promotion, cultural managers and even educators gave talks about their experiences. The primary objective is to involve a young public through the use of technology and new languages.
The forum will wrap up on Saturday, October 22, with the elaboration of the “Charter of Palermo” in which strategies will be defined to valorize the cultural heritage of the Mediterranean.
