“She was my biggest fan, without her I would never have any of my personal successes,” said Tiger Woods as he shared with his followers on social media the sad news of the death of his mother Kutilda Woods. Tiger expressed his deep mourning for what he considers one of the most important figures in his life.
“It is with deep sadness that I want to share that my dear mother, Kultida Woods, passed away early this morning,” wrote the 15-time golf champion, reflecting on the importance of his mother’s role in his career as probably the world’s most acclaimed golfer. Woods described her as a “force of nature” whose indomitable spirit and infectious laughter will forever remain etched in his memory.
Woods did not reveal the cause of his mother’s death; she had attended her son’s TGL match in Florida last week. Just last year, in 2024, during an evening on The Jimmy Fallon Show, the golfer had affectionately told a curious anecdote about Kutilda: “My mother thought red was my power color, so I ended up wearing it and won some tournaments. And then, to spite her, he jokingly remarked, I wore blue and didn’t win those tournaments. So mom is always right.”
The golfer received many expressions of affection from his fans on social media but also from colleagues in the golf world, who poured out their support and affection in his time of mourning.
