Life is frequently more entertaining than art. That’s what we’re learning as we follow the unending saga of the riotous feud between the Sussexes and their Royal Family. Harry and Meghan have been on the warpath ever since they didn’t get their way: they wanted to “step down” from their royal duties yet still keep all the perks: money, security, privilege, and visibility. The disappointment was great when they found themselves cut out of the cushy princely position they had before.
After having collaborated on the first damaging book, (hiding behind Scobie and Durand), given countless interviews—one devastating one with Oprah—and now released a scorched-earth Netflix docuseries, the duo still haven’t spewed all their venom. They’re still not satisfied that they have gotten everything off their chest. They want more revenge.
Perhaps frustrated at the lack of response from the Palace, Harry and Meghan Markle now demand a sit-down with the Royal Family to air out still-unsettled grievances. Despite the fact that they have publicly accused their own family of racism, bullying, lying, cheating, they are furious and want an apology.
According to The Sunday Times, a source close to the Sussexes says Harry and Meghan would very much like a meeting with senior members of the monarchy — presumably, King Charles, and Prince William — to tackle issues they just laid out in their series, “Harry & Meghan.”
The reason they want to hash it out once and for all is that they still feel short-changed in the accountability department. Namely, they assert the Royals never addressed their problems head-on, nor did they ever own up to anything.
Prince William cut contact with his brother, Prince Harry, over the allegations Harry made in his recent Netflix documentary, according to one of Britain’s most noted royal correspondents.
“William cuts all contact” Roya Nikkhah of The Sunday Times said in a tweet accompanying a feature on the fallout of “Harry & Meghan,” released over the past week on Netflix.
Nikkhah cited two unnamed friends of the Prince of Wales despairing at the damage the series, in which Harry accused William of screaming at him over his plan to leave royal life in 2020, did.
He also accused William of colluding with the media to plant damaging stories about him and Meghan to distract from other problems in the family.
One source noted that their relationship had been “very strained for a while” and asserted that William had no plans to speak to him in the future. A second simply said “the whole thing is mad.”
Kensington Palace, which represents William, declined to comment in response to a question from Insider. Spokespeople for Harry and Meghan did not immediately respond.
Since the release of the Netflix docuseries the word has been that Harry and Meghan better stay away from the Coronation, that they are not welcome and will not be invited (though this has been disclaimed in some sources), but that they are desperate to attend and would like to reach some sort of reconciliation before then. If this is the way they think they will achieve that goal, they need to hire a competent public relations firm immediately to repair their image in the UK.
