Ahead of the hearings for the confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. how Secretary of Health, a letter from Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of John F., has sparked a heated debate.
The letter, addressed to Senate members and obtained by the Washington Post, portrays her cousin as an individual who is “afflicted with an addiction to attention and power.” Caroline, who served as Ambassador to Australia, accuses RFK Jr. of being a “predator,” whose victims would have been family members and parents of sick children.
The woman writes that she has known Bobby her whole life, and she “is not surprised that he keeps predatory birds at home, as he herself is a predator”. She also refers to the politician’s battles against vaccines, which, according to her, have made him wealthy. The letter continues with heavy accusations, stating that RFK Jr. has influenced other family members to follow his example of drug abuse. She describes the situation as a “perverse scene of despair and violence,” where many relatives allegedly suffered deeply and, in some cases, even died because of these actions.
Meanwhile, the candidacy is increasingly in doubt. The activist’s confirmation is at the center of a heated dispute, with some Republican senators possibly refusing to support the nomination. Among the reasons are his stance on issues like abortion rights and his proposals for radical changes in biomedical research and the food industry, including a ban on high-sugar corn syrup. Additionally, RFK Jr. has been criticized by doctors, Nobel laureates, and over 25,000 members of the American Public Health Association, for his “constant disregard for scientific evidence.”
This opposition is further compounded by some GOP senators, including Mitch McConnell, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski, who had previously voted against other nominations from “The Donald.” However, the candidate has tried to defend himself by stepping back and stating that all his children, despite his position, have been regularly vaccinated.
