With just over two weeks to go before Inauguration Day kicks off his second term as president of the United States, Donald Trump continues to raise funds that will be used for the staging of the event.
As reported by Axios, the latest major donation, in order of time, to the inaugural committee of MAGA leader, bears the signature of Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple.
Just as done by other tech giants, such as Jeff Bezos, patron of Amazon, Mark Zuckerberg, owner of Meta, and Sam Altman, leader of OpenAI, the Cupertino company’s CEO will also contribute $1 million.
In the past, unlike with some of the individuals mentioned above, relations between Trump and Apple’s CEO have almost always been cordial. The two also met several times during the MAGA leader’s first term, while their most recent meeting was last month, when Cook was the president-elect’s guest at his headquarters in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.
Also present at that dinner was Elon Musk, Trump’s main supporter in the last election campaign and the next DOGE co-secretary.
According to what was revealed by some anonymous sources to Axios, the CEO, originally from Alabama, is a great patriot, and believes strongly in the tradition of Inauguration Day-one of the reasons why he would decide to personally donate such a generous amount, at the upcoming January 20 ceremony.
As the Wall Street Journal reported last November, moreover, Cook has managed to build a direct and cordial relationship with Trump over the years, managing “to crack the right code for working with him.”
Once, the Apple CEO even gave the MAGA leader a $5,999 Mac Pro, made in an Austin factory the two had visited together, in 2019.
