A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on charges of killing four members of his family in a house located in a rural area of Valencia County, New Mexico. According to State Police, the victims, found in recent days, all had gunshot wounds.
The tragic incident came to light through a 911 call made by the teenager himself, in which he admitted to killing his family. When officers arrived at the scene, they found him outside the house with his hands raised in surrender. He appeared to be visibly intoxicated but did not resist and was arrested without incident.
Police spokesperson Ray Wilson stated that the teenager was immediately taken to a hospital for medical evaluation. He will later be transferred to a juvenile detention center on charges of murder. Authorities have not disclosed the boy’s identity, as he is a minor, nor that of the victims, whose bodies were found inside the house along with the gun, which was lying on the kitchen table.
The medical examiner’s office is working to officially identify the victims. Meanwhile, police have not provided information about the possible motive or the type of alcohol consumed by the boy.
