According to police, a Long Island man allegedly beat a friend to death in a Hamptons home after a night of heavy drinking, then texted his handyman to help him clean up the scene.
Jeremy Allen, 43, was arrested after police discovered the lifeless, stabbed body of his friend, Christopher Hahn, 43, hidden under a towel on Allen’s back patio following a drunken altercation Saturday morning, authorities and reports stated.
Authorities claim Allen and his drinking pal were discussing their upcoming Alcoholics Anonymous 12-step program when an argument broke out that led to Allen fatally beating and stabbing the victim in the head, as revealed by prosecutors during Sunday’s hearing.
During the hearing Suffolk County Prosecutor Elena Tomaro briefed Southampton Town Judge Adam Grossman on the existence of a video of the assault, describing it as “brutal and heinous to watch”. Hahn and Allen, who has been charged several times with DUI since 2007, were drinking heavily when an argument escalated into a “more violent altercation,” Allen’s attorney claimed in court.
According to the indictment, Allen, enraged, allegedly beat Hahn for six hours before pulling out “a large knife” and stabbing him in the head and neck, according to news reports.
The report states that after the attack, Allen sent a message to a local handyman, asking for assistance in cleaning up the house. Upon seeing the bloody body, the handyman allegedly told Allen that he needed to buy bleach, but instead contacted Southampton City Police.
Officers arrived on the scene shortly before 10 a.m., where Hahn was pronounced dead. As a result, Allen was arrested about an hour after the body was found.
Allen was subsequently arraigned Sunday and held without bail, and in addition to the current charges, he faces an ongoing rape case in Southampton and remains on probation for a 2022 Ulster County DUI conviction.
