Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he does not envision himself running for president again if he loses in November.
“No, I don’t. No, I don’t,” Trump replied when asked by Sharyl Attkisson, host of Sinclair Broadcast Group’s Full Measure, about the possibility of another run. “That would be it. I don’t see that at all. Hopefully, we’re going to be successful,” he then added.
After President Joe Biden withdrew from the 2024 election, Donald Trump is now the oldest presidential candidate in U.S. history, with age and mental clarity emerging as key issues in this year’s election.
In discussing the stakes of the 2024 election, Trump stressed the difficulties he and his campaign encountered throughout the cycle.
“I didn’t need this. I had a very good life. I didn’t need to go through the court systems and all the other things while I was running,” Trump reportedly told tech entrepreneur Elon Musk during a livestream talk in August when asked why he chose to pursue another presidential bid. But if I had to do it over again, I would have done it over again, because this is so much more important than me or my life”.
This latest statement certainly displaced public opinion since, regardless of whoever wins the election, this will most likely be Donald Trump’s last political campaign. It will be the end of an era, for better or worse.
