At the 2024 Democratic National Convention, wardrobe has become a collective passion. Since the event kicked off on Monday, August 19, fashion has held as much sway as politicians’ speeches. Official representatives, special guests, and surprise appearances, each with their own outfit, have also expressed themselves through clothing and style.
So it was, once again, during the third night at the United Arena in Chicago, filled with unexpected appearances and electrifying performances by music icons. Kicking off the festivities, and Wednesday’s style statements was singer Maren Morris, who sang the country song Better Than We Found It. For the occasion, the artist wore a white blazer with a wide lapel and midi skirt by David Koma, the Georgian newly appointed artistic director at Blumarine.
Then came the fashion statement of the evening: in a surprise arrival, beloved TV host and media titan Oprah Winfrey took the stage in a Christian Siriano outfit. Plum-colored wide leg pants paired with a blazer with overlapping lapels and belt. An eye-catching look finished with pumps in a darker shade of purple. The round glasses were also outlined in the same shade, as was the stone set in the center of the dangling earrings.
Fashion, in the meanwhile, never left the Convention stage. Later, to introduce the speech of vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz, John Legend took the stage.
The All of Me singer offered a tribute to Prince, undisputed star of Minnesota, of which Walz is governor, by sporting a Balmain outfit: double-breasted white tweed blazer with black buttons and collar over matching top and pants. Precious shoes in shimmering patent leather, the kind for grand occasions, completed the look.
