Forget about Big Mac, McCrispy, McNuggets, Happy Meal, and plain Coke. McDonald’s is bringing fast food to a whole new space level with their new restaurant chain called CosMc’s, taking inspiration from the alien six-armed mascot CosMc, which appeared in their 80s and 90s ads. They opened their fifth location overall in San Antonio, Texas—the fourth one in the Lone Star State.
Over this weekend, between August 10 and August 11, fans have the chance to try new items from an extensive menu, custom-made for the location, such as the Sprite Moonsplash, a drink flavored with Sprite, citrus, vanilla, dried blueberries, lemon wheel, and, of course, ice.
It is only one of the items newly introduced in the space-theme CosMc’s menu, focused only on colored and fruity beverages and breakfast food to boost energy. People can enjoy Barbie pink Popping Pear Slush, brownish Churro Cold Brew Frappé and pink Sour Cherry Energy Burst with Blueberry Lemon Cookies, Savory Hashbrown Bites, Spicy Queso Sandwich and Creamy Avocado Tomatillo Sandwich. But guests can customize their own drinks adding boba, energy, vitamin C and pre-workout shots.
Back in July 2023, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski launched the idea of a new restaurant chain, refreshing the brand thanks to a “small format concept with all the DNA of McDonald’s but its own unique personality.” As of December 2023, when they opened their first location in Bolingbrook, Illinois, they launched four other outlets all in Texas—Arlington, Dallas, San Antonio, and Watauga—and a new one will open soon. Also, it is the only state where customers can join CosMc’s loyalty program.
CosMc’s restaurants are blue and yellow, unlike the red, green, and grey of the traditional locations. The format is smaller, allegedly relying more on the drive-thru than the “in person” service.
