Mexican authorities said that two of the four Americans who were kidnapped after crossing the US-Mexico border last week were found alive, while the other two were found dead. The four were identified as Zindell Brown, Eric James Williams, and cousins Latavia “Tay” McGee and Shaeed Woodard.
They had entered Matamoros located in the Tamaulipas state on Friday. They were traveling in a white minivan with North Carolina license plates before gunmen opened fire on their vehicle and captured them. The US State Department advises visitors to not visit Tamaulipas because of violent crime in the region. Footage has been released showing the kidnapping.
Tamaulipas Governor Américo Villarreal said that one of the survivors was wounded while the other was not. The response to the situation is ongoing by law enforcement and medical agencies.
