Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis Presley, has died.
The American singer-songwriter, who had been hospitalized for a few hours after suffering cardiac arrest, passed away at the age of 54.
Confirming the news was her mother, who said, “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”
It was her maid who found her unconscious in her bed this morning and then her ex-husband Danny Keough, who lives with her. He had returned after dropping their children off at school and called the ambulance.
Lisa Marie was featured at the Golden Globes on Tuesday night, where she and her mother watched Austin Butler win for his portrayal of Elvis.
During Butler’s acceptance speech, which made headlines for the fact that he spoke using Elvis’ distinctive Southern accent, the actor paid tribute to both Priscilla, 77, and Lisa Marie.
“To the Presley family I want to say thank you, for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me,” the actor said. “Lisa Marie and Priscilla, I will love you forever.”
Lisa Marie owned and operated Elvis Presley Enterprises until 2005, when she sold the entire business portfolio. However, she remains the owner of Graceland, Elvis’ famous Memphis estate.
She leaves behind three children: Riley Keough and twins Harper and Finley. The fourth, Benjamin, died by suicide in July 2020 at age 27.
