U.S. First Lady Jill Biden has announced the theme of this year’s White House holiday decorations: “We the people,” the first three words of the U.S. Constitution.
“Traditions may vary, but our shared American values endure season after season,” is written in the First Lady’s letter contained in the welcome guide that will greet visitors. “During this year’s holiday season at the White House, we hope to capture the spirit embodied in the very idea of America: We the People.
As you visit the White House, in its rooms filled with history and holiday decorations, our hope is that you will feel at home and be able to find yourself in America’s great story. May the promise ‘We the People’ light our path into the New Year and unite us always.”
About 150 volunteers from across the United States helped decorate the White House with 77 Christmas trees, more than 83,000 lights, 25 wreaths and more.
More than 50,000 visitors from across the country are expected at the presidential residence during the holiday season.
