Early Wednesday morning, a mural to show support for the women of Iran appeared in front of the Iranian Embassy, in Rome.
The mural depicts a woman whose face is covered by a burqa, but looking out from the vision netting that look like grills placed over her eyes. The bent grills are meant to represent prison bars. Allegedly, the meaning of this art piece is to show how, since the protests, sparked by the death of 22-year-old Masha Amini began, women in Iran are fighting to regain their freedom.
Masha Amini appears in the mural as the face of a white dove placed right behind the shoulder of the woman with the burqa. The mural is the latest art work of Harry Greb, the Italian street artist, whose work focuses on influential social issues that are shaping the contemporary world.
