From the new skyscrapers at Hudson Yards in Manhattan to those at Boerum Hill in Brooklyn, StreetEasy collected data spanning from January to November on New York rents and, as we approach the end of the year, published an analysis of 2024 real estate trends, revealing which neighborhood is the most expensive.
Tribeca with $8,295 per month rent, tops the list. In second place is SoHo at $6,100, followed by the Flatiron District at $5,900.
These three also appear in the list of the most searched neighborhoods, but ranked in different positions: SoHo in sixth place, Flatiron District in eighth and Tribeca in tenth, surpassed by Midtown East in first, West Village in second and Williamsburg in third.
StreetEasy analysts said that when searching for a home to rent or buy, New Yorkers have become much more selective based on the type of amenities available to them. “What’s inside their apartment building is just as important as what’s outside it. This year’s renters and buyers sought amenities that meant they could do more without leaving home—a trend we believe will continue in 2025,” the analysis reads. So apartments with in-unit laundry—a great privilege for people living in the Big Apple–the availability of dishwashers, and being pet friendly were high on the wish lists.
