An 88-year-old woman was assaulted during an attempted mugging in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, on Sunday afternoon, police reported. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on 50th Street near Fifth Avenue. Two suspects, a man and a woman, both riding scooters, approached the elderly victim and attempted to steal her purse.
The suspects pulled the woman to the ground, causing facial fractures and damage to her teeth, though she managed to hold onto her purse. She was taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where she was treated for her injuries and is currently in stable condition.
The NYPD has released descriptions of the suspects. The male is described as having a dark complexion and was last seen wearing a black ski mask, a black “Raiders” T-shirt, black pants, and white and red sneakers.
The female suspect, also with a dark complexion, was wearing a black and white head-covering, a blue sports bra, and gray sweatpants.
As of Tuesday, the suspects remain at large.
