A 16-year-old girl was killed and an 8-year-old child was sent to the hospital following a tragic hit-and-run in Queens, authorities said on Wednesday.
The NYPD reported that a white Ford vehicle struck the victims in a crosswalk as the driver turned right at the 46th Street junction at around 3:27 p.m. at 46-02 47th Ave. in Woodside. The white Ready Refresh delivery truck’s driver then departed the scene, heading south on 46th Street, according to the police, before being apprehended a block away.
While the 8-year-old was transferred to NewYork-Presbyterian hospital with injuries, the 16-year-old was declared dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel, according to authorities.
The suspect is under police custody and has not yet been charged, according to police sources.
