Three Upper East Side listings of vans were on Airbnb. They had mostly positive reviews going back to February, though they outraged residents, who complained guests were urinating and defecating right on the street.
And now, the crude listings are gone.
The custom vans have been taken off the site after a New York Daily News exposé.
“Following an investigation, these listings have been removed from the platform,” said an Airbnb spokesman. The website’s rules ban rental listings on public land.
The mobile accommodations are still available on Tripadvisor and Flipkey, though.
The listings were posted on Airbnb by Magda Agata, an alias of Magdalena Kulisz, co-founder of Miss Immigrant USA, a networking group with connections to the mayor and sheriff offices.
Upper East Side Councilwoman Julie Menin had asked Airbnb to remove the listings and has communicating with the NYPD to investigate further.
“City streets cannot illegally be used as Airbnb rentals, which have no place on our densely populated residential roadways,” said Menin.
