The First Edition of the New York Poetry Prize “Italians for the Future” concluded with great success. The Award, established by the Italian Cultural Institute of New York in collaboration with the General Council of Italians Abroad, and the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute of CUNY, inspired by the theme of the XXII MAECI Week of the Italian language in the world: “Italian and young people” and by the 40th edition of the reading of poems in the Sicilian language organized by the Castellammare del Golfo Social Club in Brooklyn, was born enjoying the patronage of the Embassy of Italy in the US and the Com.It.Es. of New York, Houston, San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and Boston.
The organizing committee consists of the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute of New York, Prof. Fabio Finotti, the Dean of the Calandra Institute, Prof. Anthony Julian Tamburri, and the V. Secretary General of the CGIE, Dr. Silvana Mangione, who chairs it.
The Jury is composed of Fabio Finotti (Chair), Luigi Ballerini, Luigi Fontanella, Silvana Mangione, Irene Marchegiani, Damiano Palazzolo, Nino Provenzano, Annalisa Saccà, Victoria Surliuga, Anthony Julian Tamburri, Cesare Vangeli, and received over 100 entries from different states, cities and municipalities in the US.
