The University Campus Bio-Medico of Rome (UCBM), established in 1993, is dedicated to the pursuit of scientific advancements for the betterment of humanity. An institution that places great emphasis on the integration of teaching, research, and healthcare, all while remaining committed to the values of compassion and environmental sustainability.
UCBM showcased its goals and achievements during an event at the Italian Consulate General in New York organized by the Biomedical University Foundation and moderated by Mario Platero that featured speeches by Professor Fiorella Gurrieri, Professor Leandro Pecchia, Professor Gaetano Rocco, Advisor Erik Dyson and Board Member Federica Marchini.
Members of the city’s medical community, including representatives from institutions like NYU Langone, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Mount Sinai, and Cornell Weill, were in attendance. The event also welcomed numerous former UCBM students who have now embarked on successful careers at renowned hospitals and medical organizations in the United States.

UCBM, with its unique blend of a university, medical center, and research institute, seized the opportunity to highlight its distinctive features, presenting itself as an ideal platform for research investment and an appealing destination for aspiring American students. While the university already welcomes young individuals from the United States, it also attracts students from various other countries, thanks to its diverse range of English-taught courses.
“The Bio-Medical Campus is an organization that leaves a profound impact on the world. In our relatively brief history of just 30 years, we have made significant contributions to medical and technological progress, thanks to our unwavering commitment to excellence,” emphasized Erik Dyson. His remarks set the tone for the event, which was inaugurated by Consul General Fabrizio Di Michele.
UCBM offers a comprehensive selection of 14 degree programs, three of which are conducted in English: medicine and surgery, ‘MedTech’ medicine and surgery, and biomedical engineering. Additionally, the university enriches the educational experience by offering extracurricular activities that complement the standard curricula. Notably, each year, UCBM provides workshops in developing countries, enabling students to engage in intervention projects aligned with their respective fields of study.

The medical center affiliated with UCBM boasts an impressive 400 beds and a cutting-edge emergency room. Additionally, it features a facility catering to the needs of the elderly, graciously donated by the late renowned actor Alberto Sordi. UCBM’s research initiatives enjoy high esteem both within Italy and across the globe, further solidifying its position as a leading institution in the field.
Through its commitment to excellence, integration of academia and healthcare, and its global impact, UCBM has proven itself as a trailblazer in the realms of medical and technological progress. With its array of English-taught courses and outstanding facilities, the university continues to attract students and researchers from around the world, shaping the future of science and innovation for the benefit of all mankind.
