Looking for a place to live your best life in the Empire State? Then Long Island is the place to go.
In Niche‘s list of the top 25 regions to live in the New York metropolitan region, 14 are located in Nassau County, with Great Neck Gardens taking the top spot.
The small, wealthy town received A+ ratings for its family, schools, as well as an A for nightlife. Housing scored a rating of B+, while diversity received a B-, which seemed to indicate room for development.
Great Neck Plaza was just behind, whereas Herricks and Syosset hamlets came in third and fourth place, respectively, with Kensington village coming in fifth. According to Niche, Kensington is also considered to be the greatest neighborhood in New York to raise a family, followed by Syosset.
It comes as no surprise that the overall best place to live in New York is indeed Nassau County, even though Tompkins, Albany, and Monroe also seem a good pick.
Niche ranked Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey, as the finest location to live outside of Nassau County. With the exception of diversity, where it received a B-, the Bergen County town received A ratings across the board, making it the greatest suburb in the state. Ridgewood and River Edge, both in Bergen County, were the other top suburbs in the Garden Sttate.
Manhattan, the sole area of New York City to appear on the list, was ranked no. 14. According to Niche, the heart of NYC gained A+ ratings for diversity, nightlife, and being a good place for families, as well as a B+ for public schools. However, it fared fairly poorly on housing, receiving just a C-.
The list also included Chelsea, at number 21, and Morningside Heights, at number 24.
