Ever wondered what happened to fat free Pringles, Coke II, or beef lasagna Colgate? Or how about the “Uroclub,” a portable urinal for golfers introduced at the Las Vegas Golf Expo in 2008? The hollow shaft was meant to be a boon for those emergencies that could suddenly pop up on the golf course.
If you’re curious about any of these ideas that never took off, the Museum of Failure is open and tickets are available. This fun and insightful exhibit brings together over 150 products and services that were a total flop. As the saying goes: it seemed like a good idea at the time. The museum boasts the world’s largest collection of failures, at over 130.
Even though these inventions might have failed they also paved the way for other great inventions. Embracing failure meant these companies were taking risks, leading to better ideas and eventually successful innovation. The point is that only initial failure can lead to success. To think creatively is to risk falling on your face.
The purpose of this exhibit is to inspire and stimulate discussions and ideas.
Maybe even taking our own blunders in stride and realizing that it’s all a learning process. Some of the biggest brands have some of the biggest failures (as you’ll see in the exhibit) but it’s all about how you bounce back!
Check out all of these funny flops at The Museum of Failure.
