Caro Direttore,
Good news from the bilingual sphere: it is with great pleasure that we would like to invite you and all your readers to an evening about bilingualism and the status of Italian language and culture in public schools. The event has been organized by InItaliano (i.e. Stefania Puxeddu, Benedetta Scardovi and Francesco Fadda), in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy, the Italian Cultural Institute, Calec and TBR Books, and coincides with the launch of the Italian translation of the book The Bilingual Revolution, authored by Fabrice Jaumont and translated by Stefania Puxeddu. We are very grateful to all the partners involved in this much longed-for gathering of bilingualism lovers.
This is our second annual event on bilingualism at the Italian Cultural Institute, and progress has been made at public level. Our recent partnership with media group French Morning to deliver the 6th edition of the Bilingual Fair has worked beautifully and new challenges have been set ahead. The slow but steady growth of our operations has encouraged us to go on, and we, as part of the wider multilingual community of NYC, would like to reiterate our position: we need MORE multi language programs in public schools, and more Italian bilingual programs! For this reason, we need to continue lifting those barriers – bureaucratic, cultural, organizational, which prevent programs from starting, or delay their expansion.
There’s so much to catch up on and we would like to invite anyone interested to register their presence (and secure a drink of bubbly) on December 11, at 5:30PM, by simply clicking on the following link:
A presto e grazie!
Stefania, Benedetta and Francesco (InItaliano)
