Apple is working on two innovative devices that are promising to revolutionize the foldable device market. According to rumors, the Cupertino-based company is developing a foldable iPhone and iPad, aiming to compete with already established products from companies such as Samsung and Huawei.
As for the foldable iPhone, it would be a project that has been in development for several years. According to reports in the Wall Street Journal, the device will feature an approximately 7-inch OLED display, the largest ever seen on an iPhone, even surpassing that of the current iPhone 16 Pro Max (6.9 inches). The design will feature an internal fold, designed to reduce the risk of display breakage and offer greater protection. According to analysts, this revolutionary iPhone is expected to be launched by 2026.
In parallel, Apple is working on a foldable iPad that could redefine the tablet concept. As reported by Bloomberg insider Mark Gurman , the device is described as a “giant iPad,” capable of unfolding to a size equivalent to two iPad Pros side by side. He then added that the “higher-end device” is a “single, uninterrupted piece of glass.”
The new iPad will be, in fact, a hybrid of an iPad and a MacBook, featuring a 19-inch foldable OLED display. It will also support both of Apple’s operating systems, iPadOS and macOS, allowing applications from both platforms and offering unprecedented versatility. However, the debut of this revolutionary model will have to wait until at least 2028.
Apple appears to be focusing on large-screen devices, steering clear of smaller options like pocket-sized foldables, which are often seen as a compromise. This strategy could appeal to professional and creative users seeking portability without sacrificing advanced functionality.
