The Italian band Maneskin, who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021, will perform at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on September 12 that will be streamed live from the Barclay Center in Brooklyn.
The group, known for their glam rock style and catchy tunes, will join other stars such as Justin Bieber, Camila Cabello, Lil Nas X and Olivia Rodrigo on the stage of the Barclays Center. Maneskin said they were “honored and thrilled” to be part of the show, which they described as “a dream come true”.
The quartet, who last year were voted Best Alternative Band, will play the single, Honey (Are You Coming?), which will have already come out on September 1.
The foursome’s last album RUSH! is set to rack up one billion views on streaming platforms.
The band have been riding high since January with RUSH! top of the iTunes charts in 20 countries, including Italy, France and the USA.
Their golden moment was certified with a feature in the style section of the New York Times. The piece by fashion editor Vanessa Friedman, entitled “The Joy of Dressing Like a Rock God”, focused on how bass player Victoria De Angelis, drummer Ethan Torchio, lead singer Damiano David and guitarist Thomas Raggi have used style to make a statement. “From the time it burst onto the global scene in Rotterdam in metallic burgundy leather lace-up Etro, looking like the love children of Jimi Hendrix and Abba and belting out ‘Zitti e Buoni,’ the band has become synonymous with a particularly kind of gleeful rock god get-up” wrote Friedman.
The Roman group, who first won fame in Italy by taking part in the X Factor, were catapulted to international stardom with their win at the Eurovision Song Contest.
