Two World War II bombs have been found at the famed Ancient Greek Valle dei Templi archaeological site at Agrigento in Sicily, local sources said Monday. They were found around 150 meters from the Temple of Hera.
Workers doing maintenance on municipal plant nurseries made the discovery. The area has been cordoned off and bomb disposal experts called in. The Valle dei Templi (Sicilian: Vaddi di li Tempri), or Valley of the Temples, is an archaeological site in Agrigento (ancient Greek Akragas), Sicily.
It is one of the most outstanding examples of Magna Graecia art and architecture, and is one of the main attractions of Sicily.
