Information You Provide to Us. We collect the information you provide to us directly when you use the Services, including when you:
- Register an account or for a newsletter; register for or attend an event; subscribe to or purchase a product (such as our newspaper); participate in a contest, promotion or survey.

Automatically Collected Information. We automatically collect certain information about your use of the Services or your device. For example, we may collect:
- Device information such as hardware model, IP address, device identifiers, operating system, browser type and settings (like language and available font settings) and settings of the device you use to access the Services.
- Usage information such as the Services you use, the time and duration of your use, and other information about your interaction with content, such as the articles you read and how you interact with our emails.

How We Share Information

Third-Party Content and Links
Our Services may embed content from, or link to, third-party websites and services, including social media platforms, that are outside of our control. We are not responsible for their practices and this Privacy Policy does not govern those third parties’ content, services, or use of your information.
Account Management & Privacy Choices
Account & Subscription Management. You may access or modify your VNY Media Corp./La Voce di New York account, update your subscriptions and email newsletters associated with that account.
Email Promotions. You may opt out of receiving commercial email messages from us by following the instructions contained in those email messages.
Analytics. Some analytics providers we partner with may provide specific opt-out mechanisms. For example, you may opt out of having Google Analytics use your information for analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Browser Signals. Some web browsers may transmit a “do-not-track” signal. Because there currently is no industry standard concerning how to treat such signals, the Services currently do not take action in response to these signals. We respond to the Global Privacy Control signal for California residents.
Other Choices. The local laws where you live (e.g., laws of the EEA, UK, and California) may permit you to make certain requests. See the section applicable to the place of your residency below.
Jurisdiction-Specific Privacy Information & Rights
California Residents
Additional information. If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) requires us to provide you with some additional information. Please note the information and the rights discussed below are not applicable to our employees, former employees, candidates, contractors, service providers, or business contacts.

Sale of personal information. We engage in advertising on the website www.lavocedinewyork.com. In connection with such advertising, we may share the following categories of information with advertising networks and providers, advertisers, certain analytics providers, and social media networks, which may be considered a sale under California law
- device information and identifiers, such as IP address, and unique advertising identifiers and cookies; usage information, such as browsing history or app usage; location information, such as city; and inference data.
California residents can opt out of such targeted advertising. California residents can also turn on the Global Privacy Control (GPC) to opt out of the “sale” of your personal information for each participating browser system that you use. Learn more at the Global Privacy Control website.

As explained further in our Privacy Policy, VNY Media Corp/La Voce di New York collectscertain pieces of information from our visitors, such as device identifiers, cookies, advertising IDs, and IP addresses and usage activity. Below, we explain how you can control the information that is shared by us, and we provide important information about those choices. You will still see some advertising, regardless of these choices.
Digital Advertising Alliance (“DAA”) Opt-Out
The Digital Advertising Alliance (“DAA”) offers tools to provide consumers with choices as to whether participating third parties can use your information to provide targeted advertising. To opt out of sharing your information with such participating third parties for targeted advertising, please use the following tools:

Google Opt-Out

Mobile Ad Settings
If you no longer wish to receive interest-based advertising on your mobile applications, please refer to your device’s operating system settings, which may include “Limit Ad-Tracking” on iOS devices and “opt-out of interest-based advertising” on Android devices.
Facebook Ad Preferences
Facebook offers settings that may control what information Facebook uses about you or your device activity for advertising purposes. Login to Facebook and go to Settings > Ads > Ad Settings (web) or Ad Preferences > Ad Settings (app) for more information.
Please note:
- The opt-outs described above are device and browser based. Because the information being shared relates to your device ID and/or browser ID, you must opt out on each device and each browser where you want your choice to apply.
- Opt-outs may be stored via cookies. If you clear cookies, your opt-out will no longer be valid and you must opt out again where you want your choices to apply.
- VNY Media Corp./La Voce di New York does not maintain or control the opt-out mechanisms and settings above and is not responsible for their operation.
- Exercising these choices does not prevent us from delivering contextual advertising, conducting cross-device tracking for us to serve you first-party ads directly, or using information for non-targeted advertising purposes, such as attribution and analytics.
- We may also still share some personal information with our partners (who will function as our service providers in such instances) to help us perform functions such as measuring ad effectiveness, controlling how many times you see an ad, determining ad performance, providing and securing ads, providing aggregate statistics and analytics, and/or reducing ad fraud.
- The above choices will not opt you out of the use of previously collected and shared information or all interest-based advertising (such as that conducted by entities that do not recognize the choices exercised through the tools above).
Privacy Rights.
California residents can request:
- the categories of personal information we collect, disclose or sell about you; the categories of sources of such information; the business or commercial purpose for collecting or selling your personal information; and the categories of third parties with whom we share personal information. Such information is also set forth in this Privacy Policy.
- access to and/or a copy of certain personal information we hold about you;
- deletion of certain personal information we have collected from you; and/or
- provide information about financial incentives that we offer to you, if any.

We will take reasonable steps to verify your identity and requests, including by verifying your account information, residency or the email address you provide. Certain information may be exempt from such requests under applicable law such as information we retain for legal compliance and to secure our Services. We may need certain information in order to provide the Services to you; if you ask us to delete it, you may no longer be able to use the Services. The CCPA further provides you with the right to not be discriminated against (as provided for in applicable law) for exercising your rights under the CCPA.
Once a year, California residents can also request certain information regarding our disclosure, if any, of certain categories of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes in the preceding calendar year. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
California residents who are under 18 and registered users of the Services can request removal of content that they have posted on the Services by emailing us at marketing(at)lavoceny.com with your name and email address and/or your VNY Media Corp./LaVocediNewYork.com username, birth year, mailing address, and the material that you want removed and information that will enable us to locate it, and the subject line “California Removal Request”. Your request does not ensure complete removal of the material. For example, materials may be republished or reposted by another user or third party.
Nevada Residents
Nevada consumers who have purchased goods or services from us may opt out of the “sale” of “covered information” as such terms are defined under Nevada law. We do not engage in such activity, but if you have questions about this you can email us at marketing(at)lavoceny.com.
Information for Certain Users Outside the United States
Under applicable law in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, VNY Media Corp./La Voce di New York is considered the “data controller” of the personal information we handle under this Policy. In other words, VNY Media Corp./La Voce di New York is responsible for deciding how to collect, use and disclose this information, subject to applicable law. Our contact information appears at the end of this Policy. Residents of certain jurisdictions may be able to request one or more individual rights set forth in “Individual Rights” below under applicable law.
International Transfers. The Services are headquartered in the United States, where we process and store information. We may also store information on servers and equipment in other countries depending on a variety of factors, including the locations of our users By using the Services or otherwise providing information to us, you consent to the processing, transfer, and storage of information in and to the U.S.
Users in the EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland
Purposes of processing and legal basis for processing. We process personal data consistent with our disclosures in this Privacy Policy. We process personal data on the following legal bases: (1) as necessary to perform our agreement to provide Services to you; (2) as necessary for our legitimate interests in providing the Services where those interests do not override your fundamental rights and freedoms related to data privacy; or (3) with your consent.

Additional Marketing & Advertising Choices.
If you are a resident of the EEA, UK, Switzerland, or Canada, as described above, you may opt out of (withdraw your consent to) receiving marketing emails from us by following the instructions in such emails. You may also opt out of (withdraw your consent to) our use of your email to provide you special offers via email and through other platforms (such as social media) by emailing us at marketing(at)lavoceny.com.
Data Security
We have in place physical, electronic and managerial procedures to help protect the information we collect. However, as effective as these measures are, no security system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee the security of our systems, nor can we guarantee that the information you supply will not be intercepted while being transmitted to us over the Internet.
Children’s Privacy
We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 16 without parental consent, unless permitted by law. If we learn that a child under the age of 16 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it in accordance with applicable law.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may modify this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by posting changes here, or by other appropriate means. Any changes to the Privacy Policy will become effective when the updated policy is posted on the Services.
