Lunedì lo Stato di New York ha svelato i nomi dei primi titolari di licenze per la vendita al dettaglio di marijuana. Si tratta della fase più recente di una complessa procedura legale che avvicina l’Empire State ai benefici economici della marijuana a scopo ricreativo.
Le prime 36 licenze di vendita al dettaglio sono state rese pubbliche dal consiglio statale. Delle 900 richieste, 28 licenze sono state concesse a società private, mentre otto sono state assegnate a organizzazioni non profit. Secondo le autorità, in questa prima fase si prevede che fino a 150 licenze saranno messe a disposizione di aziende private, mentre almeno altre 25 licenze saranno riservate a organizzazioni caritatevoli.
Delle 36 licenze rilasciate lunedì, circa 12 sono state concesse ad aziende con sede in città. Il regolamento sarà ora sottoposto a un periodo di 60 giorni per i commenti del pubblico.
I primi negozi di marijuana a scopo ricreativo a New York dovrebbero essere operativi (e autorizzati a consegnare) entro dicembre, ovvero tra sole due settimane.
Tuttavia, un giudice federale ha temporaneamente impedito allo Stato di rilasciare licenze per la marijuana a scopo ricreativo nella Grande Mela e nelle zone limitrofe, a causa delle diatribe legali in corso contro il processo di selezione, quindi non è chiaro quante licenze in totale saranno assegnate in tutto lo Stato.
